Examples Of Analysis Essays Won't Teach You Creativity: Special Tips For Original Writing

Simply reading what another person considers to be creative is not going to teach you how to write in a way that is fresh and original. While you may have the perfect topic and research to back it up, much of the meaning will be lost if the writing is dry, boring, and a chore to read. So what makes writing original? How can you put some creativity into the words you put on paper? By following the tips listed below, you can ensure that your writing begs to be shared and read again:

  • Show off your human side: Let your readers know that you bleed just like they do in the first line. Be painfully honest about what went wrong and you will have established some type of common ground and way to relate with your audience. Make fun of yourself first-- and then fix it.
  • Don't be afraid of the way that you think and how others will react: Each person will look at situations differently than the next. There is no "right" way to think. It is part of what makes you original. Be ready to defend yourself to those that you offend, but don't lose any sleep over it.
  • Be opinionated: Your opinion will be different than mine on any given topic 99 times out of 100. Having a strong opinion on your topic adds a certain kind of passion to your writing, making you stand out from the crowd. Passionate writing evokes vivid images in the reader without even trying. They get so engrossed in what you have written that it hardly seems that they are reading an essay paper.
  • The "shocking" title: You will only get one chance to make a first impression and the best place to do it is with a title that grabs the reader and makes them anxious to see what else you have written.
  • Evoke emotions and relate to the audience: Choose words that harness the power of emotions. You want your readers to be able to relate easily to the feelings that your writing brings out.
  • Tickle the funny bone: Depending on exactly what you are writing, the use of well-placed humor can really have the effect of making what you write original. Use this sparingly though, since no one will take seriously a paper that is full of jokes.
  • Finish it off strong: Make the last sentence one that people will remember. It doesn't have to be long, it just needs to be effective.

It may be a little bit of trial and error to find the style of originality that works best for you. Experiment with your writing until you find your inner "word wizard".
